Backup Strategy
There are two cases which one needs to consider when reviewing backup strategies.
1. Normal disk backup
We all know that it is good
practice to carry out regular backups of our disk files and
hopefully we have implemented a solution to cater for this.
But is our business now safe? Have we catered for all
contingencies?
Probably not! Even though we are religiously
backing up every day, week and month and we are
taking copies of our backup data off site.
How long will it take to get the business back up and running in the
event of a major disaster such as fire or flood?
2. Catering for Disaster
When a disaster strikes and you have to rebuild
your servers from scratch, you may be in for a very nasty surprise.
It may take a whole lot longer than you expected!
This very nasty surprise will occur when you find out that the device
drivers on your backups are incompatible with your new servers.
So why is this important?
Well, if the device drivers are incompatible, your server will not
operate. To make matters worse, you will find that correcting
the situation is not simple and that it is in fact a very serious
problem that could cause your business to come a complete
standstill!
3. The solution?
Contact BCC to Create a DR Strategy!
We will analyse your requirements, offer a plan of
action which will allow you to create clone copies of you critical
machines.
This plan allows one to implement a simple process which will
provide protection against the failure of critical computers.
Our process is exactly the same as is implemented by the large
financial institutions, but at a pittance of the cost!
